Founded in 1891, The Ohio Academy of Science (OAS) is a membership-based, volunteer-driven, 501 (C) (3) non-profit and is the leading organization in Ohio to foster curiosity, discovery, and innovation to unite all who value education, science, engineering, technology or their applications to benefit society. The OAS serves a broad group of stakeholders (pre-college and college students as well as professionals from academia and industry) by conducting an annual meeting, publishing The Ohio Journal of Science, and by running a cadre of pre-college STEM and STEM-based entrepreneurship programs (Science Day, Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair, and Believe in Ohio).
Collectively, OAS programs provide hands-on authentic learning experiences. This is especially true for Ohio students in grades 5-12. Through curriculum, resources, and experiences in STEM research, technological design, and entrepreneurship, OAS programs prepare students for the future by gaining valuable insights into real-life applications of the skills they’re being taught. Additionally, these programs create tangible pathways to Ohio colleges, universities, and career technical centers. Students have opportunities to compete for more than $700,000 in scholarships and awards.
