Judging Opportunities

We need YOU to help foster the next generation of scientists in Ohio!

Judges are needed for Regional & State Science Days, the Buckeye Science and Engineering Fair, and Ohio STEP.

The Academy’s programs would not be possible without the hundreds of scientific professionals who offer feedback and support for the students presenting their projects.

Please share this opportunity with friends and colleagues who may be interested in volunteering.

As a part of the registration process, you will select the programs for which you wish to judge. You are welcome to judge for more than one program! View these resources to guide you through the process.

The Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair will be a hybrid judging event this year.

You can choose to judge on-line from February 18 to February 25 or you can judge in person on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at CAS, 2540 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202.

Regional Science Day will be held in person on Saturdays in March, 2025 throughout Ohio.

Please view the Regional Science Day Map for the in-person March event dates and locations you wish to judge.

The Academy’s central office will host a Virtual Regional Fair for students who cannot attend an in-person event.

Ohio STEP judging will be virtual from March 11 to March 19, 2025.

Ohio STEP is a STEM innovation and entrepreneurship program designed to promote critical thinking and the development of an entrepreneurial mindset through experiential and project-based learning.

State Science Day judging will be virtual from April 7 to April 14, 2025.

Students qualify for State Science by earning a Superior at their Regional Science Day.

The Ohio Academy of Science State Science Day: Celebration of Science will be hosted by The Ohio State University on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Ohio Union.
