Junior Academy Council

The Junior Academy Council discovers and fosters ability and interest in science and mathematics among students in grades 5-12.

Purpose and Goals

The Junior Academy Council, a planning and administrative body, is a means of discovering and fostering ability and interest in science and mathematics among students in grades 5-12.

Organization and Operation

The Junior Academy Council shall develops guidelines and perfects the organization of the Council. Science Day Standards have been developed by the Junior Academy Council. The Council is currently organized into 16 Districts. See map.

Membership

The Junior Academy Council consists of a Director; Assistant Director; Secretary; Two Councilpersons 1. A host institution representative and 2. A pre-college teacher for each district; the director of State Science Day, the chairperson of judging; chairperson of sponsored awards; the director of science day judges recognition and certification; the director and assistant director of the parent advisory council; the director and assistant director of the student advisory council; the senior academy education division coordinator; and others as appointed by the director of the Junior Academy Council.

Director

The Director is an Academy Member appointed by the Executive Committee of the Academy. The term of office shall be for three years, subject to annual approval by the Executive Committee. The Director of the Junior Academy Council is a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees.
